Meet Our Teachers


Jon Ethridge MA(Mus) MISM DipMuscLCM
Jon founded Musicmakers back in 2001 when the business had just one customer per week. Many years later he teaches piano, keyboard, organ, singing and theory of music to over 60 people at different venues across Bristol and Monmouthshire. Originally a trainee on a scheme run by the Royal School of Church Music, Jon was organist and Director of Music at St Francis Church, Ashton Gate, from 1994 until 2004, during which time he played at literally hundreds of weddings, funerals, special occasions and Sunday morning services, as well as overseeing the development and growth of a strong choir. From 2001 to 2010 he has was a singing teacher at the Bristol Academy of Performing Arts/Centre for Voice based in the Tobacco Factory in Southville and was one of two visiting music teachers at 344 Dance Centre in Fishponds for 4 years. He currently plays the organ for weddings and funerals at a number of venues across south Bristol and is also Musical Director and Conductor of The Top Notes choir. Jon is available to teach piano, organ, keyboard, singing and theory of music. In July 2017 he was awarded a Master's degree in music with distinction for research in to the hymns of Sir Arthur Sullivan.
Helen Prewett
Helen is a flautist with almost 35 years playing experience acquired largely in bands and musical productions of a variety of types. She has some 30 years of experience in working with children but is also qualified in the training and mentoring of adults. Helen is available to teach flute from beginner to Grade 8 level to learners of all ages.
